My Fraternal Briefing My Fraternal Benefits My Shining Armor Award My Local KofC Council

PLEASE NOTE: By no means will this website provide you with everything you need to know about the Knights of Columbus. However, this should encourage you to set up an appointment with me, your local representative, so you may develop a deeper understanding of the wonderful organization you have just joined. You may schedule your Fraternal Briefing by submitting your information in the grey box below.

All new Knights of Columbus Members are advised to meet with their Field Agent for their Fraternal Briefing, which is an in-home visit to teach and explain the history, accomplishments and benefits of our Order.

During this visit, you will be provided with a complete set of reading materials that includes your 1st issue of the Columbian Magazine and your FREE Accidental Death Fraternal Benefit.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q: How long does this visit take?

A: Generally, this visit will take 30-45 minutes depending on your questions and conversation. If you have greater interest(s) in our programs and would like to discuss things further, we can always schedule a follow-up visit.

Q: Does my wife/fiancé have to attend?

A: For all practical reasons, this visit is very much for her. We hold our ceremonials secret, and this can be off-putting for many women. This visit is to help her understand our Order, including our ceremonials, without revealing that which we keep private. We also believe that she'd be pleasantly surprised to discover the good works and charitable causes that Knights have accomplished.

Q: What does "Field Agent Representative" mean?

A: I am one of approximately 1300 full-time satellite employees from our Headquarters in New Haven, Ct. However, I reside and have an office in this area. Each Field Agent Representative is assigned a membership of approximately 1000 members and our responsibilities range from member and family fraternal benefits, aiding widows and orphans, helping in fraternal matters, recruitment drives, special masses, events and fund raisers. I also help our fraternal leaders with much of our correspondence with our Headquarters in New Haven. I am obligated to attend as many degree ceremonies, council, district, chapter and state meetings as possible.

Q: I heard the Knights of Columbus offers insurance benefits for members, wives, and children - and I have questions. Whom do I direct these questions to?

A: Your professional Knights of Columbus agent can answer any questions you may have. Even if you are not currently a policyholder, a field agent, who is also a brother Knight, is available to meet with you at your convenience to review the insurance needs of you and your family.

Q: Is the insurance program a requirement?

A: No - insurance with the Order is voluntary. However, we encourage our members to learn about the program in the event you’d like to participate in the future or if you know of a Catholic family that may benefit from our products. We never use pressure tactics toward our members to participate in the Insurance program.

Q: How soon does this visit need to take place?

A: I'd like to visit you and your wife as soon as possible, preferably within a week or so from your First Degree date.

Q: How will we be getting in contact?

A: Field Agent Representatives are given copies of your application for membership (Form-100) which has your contact information on it. It is important that your information is complete, including the name of your wife (if you are married). My office will call or e-mail you to set a date. If you already have a date in mind, please contact our office via the information below.

Q: Do I need to prepare anything?

A: All we will need is your time, attention, and your questions. I will be bringing, along with your Free Accidental Death Insurance Certificate, a folder packed with information. Due to a Field Agent's loaded work schedule, a cup of coffee or tea is always appreciated.
